Hearts in spite of myself -My Religion is Kindness-RAK winners and more.......

DT sister Bad Sherry suggested I use my Chickenwire from MD Craft and Hobby in a frame.
I've been pulling out piles and reorganizing and getting rid of a lot of stuff!

Materials and Supplies
Instructions
  • Clean frame and remove backing.
  • Cover backing with embossed paper.
  • Cut chickenwire to size and place in frame opening overlapping the frame just a bit.
  • Replace backing.
  • Cut "kindness" from the Silhouette file
  • Glue in a few places on the chicken wire.
  • Admire!

WhenI make a new structure I like to make a sample first, out of whatever paper I have laying around.
Not so with digital cutting. Cameo requires quality paper.
This was bumming me out as I was wasting a lot of expensive paper on samples and design ideas and mess-ups!
My clean out uncovered lots of good paper that who knows how it got here, and I've never used it as I don't like it very much, and I now have a very respectable pile of paper for "dummies".
The down side is this could justify buying paper stacks with patterns that don't especially appeal to me!

I said I was sick of hearts and I am not saving the bits left from this cut!

The set and the back of the card, with double sided gold paper I have been saving for a dogs age!
 Front of the card
 The favor box and tag.
I couldn't decide about the heart embellishment
 2 hearts?
 or 4?
RAK! Leave me a comment and I'll send you the box.
(I'll pick one commenter)
 Stamp storage ideas!
A funny thing happened on the way to the stamps.
The box got full of stuff!
I need a label that says stuff!

Lots more on the files and mat shots at

WOYWW 299 -Decisions, Decisions!

Anyone else feeling 299 pressure?
My brain is frozen!
It is not in my plan to live where it can be 0F
and white stuff is more than a fleeting photo op.

I remember standing in the Hardware Store in September and talking myself out of buying bulbs to force
as I am cheap
as they were expensive.
Today...worth every penny and interest spent!

The desk is littered with this weeks new Quietfire Design cut files and frozen brain is having difficulty making choices.
Please come back on Thursday for the exciting conclusion!
and
winners of last weeks RAK( envies are peaking out far right) and this weeks RAK op!
( if you decide to leave a comment it could be you)
I'm in a RAK mood.

Still clearing out, and found an old tape dispenser with nothing in it and thought myself brill to fill it with a washi tape I use for random taping.

Brave Girl cards- make some- give some away!
Be Brave!

An idea ahead of it's time?
Where has the month gone?
Post now or meditate on it for next month.
Oh decision, decisions.

I've decided to stop rambling on and hop around the world through desking!

Thinking of you! Bernat Mega Bulky Yarn Crochet Bag

One of the highlights of CHA is the Prime Publishing event that brings together bloggers and suppliers, for food, drink, fellowship and SWAG!
This year the product packages were mailed to us.

I got one (count them 1) skein of
 Bernat Mega Bulky yarn.
Points for an informative label
I almost never use acrylic yarns.
I was bemoaning this to my DT sisters, who reminded  me, it's not
all about me!

Can you smell the wood burning?
Thinking cap on!
the hand feel and knitablility of the yarn was much more pleasing than I expected
and I still wouldn't want to wear, or suggest anyone knitting a thinking cap, or anything else to wear, out of it.
And remember, only 1 skein.

Hence, the bag!
Flowers by Little B- also from the Prime Event.

I found a  free pattern, online on the Yarnspirations site that called for 3 skeins, so I just left out a few rows.

Materials and Supplies

  • One skein Bernat Mega Bulky Yarn.

Add some Little B flowers or other embellishments by sewing them on with the thread yo use to create the flowers.
All you do to make the Little B flowers, is pull the thread!
I dyed these with ink on my craft sheet and added a piece of lace and a diamond.

Using a 15mm hook, I had this much left over.
Maybe I wouldn't use this bag, and yes, dear readers, this is for you!
This is an easy crochet project if you are comfortable with single crochet and increasing and decreasing.

I have another idea coming soon with another product I would "never" use- so please visit often.

Not Just for V-Day

I'm doing a new feature at Quietfire Creations
the designer blog for Quietfire Design
of all the new digital cutting files in
The file I fell in love with this week was the
On the mat.
The pinwheel pizza box was a close second.
No glue required and the folds are self-explanatory .
Insert a wooden ruler or straight edge for the one tricky double fold in the front.
Those hearts are everywhere!
Honestly, you can make this box in a half hour, not including the half hour I spent looking for the heart brads for the pinwheel.
( I didn't find them)
On the mat.

Following recipes exactly is not my strong point, and part of  my objective in these posts is to show you how quick and easy it is to use the files just as they come off the mat.
Sometimes inspiration wins.

That doily just jumped onto the card!
The corner hearts were sized down to fit.
On the mat.

Last and not at all least
The be my valentine heart border card.
Change the sentiment and this card could spread a little love around any day of the year.
On the mat.
The sentiment is print and cut.
It looks like Suzanne hand lettered it right on your card!

What will you do with these files?
Create without limits and post on the Quietfire Design FB page, or leave me a link in the comments.

WOYWW #297-Love is everywhere!

Can you feel it?
Love is everywhere- at least on my desk.
I remember the day, one of my sons said to me
"Mom, I am not your valentine"
DH was next.....
So I join swaps!
Above are some envies from the Flourish Forum, cards I've yet to send, stickers that might go back in to the V-day bin for next year and more
Make some- it will help you be brave!

Pretty please link up to my Poetry Journal Monthly.
I need more poetry in my life.
It doesn't have to be about love!

You can see I have not caught the WOYWW tidy virus, and I'm off to see how y'all are doing this fine Wednesday!

Quietfire Design and Die Cut Divas-My Valentine

Quietfire is sponsoring a challenge over at
Words- Quotes-Sentiments

The Sentiment and frame are a print and cut file from Suzanne's Silhouette Store
On the Mat
I always add a jpg for reference.

Ungrouped
You see how easy it is to get a layered look, cutting your frames from different papers.

The hand lettered sentiment, print and cut, looks like you lettered it yourself on to the card!

I went a little overboard stamping on the inside!

Tropical Tuesday- It takes two to Mango!

It's freezing snowing and blowing in Prime Publishing land, so they invited us all to post our warmest tropical crafts and recipes.
Tho the weather here is mild, I've had a hankering for

1 can organic mango
left over cranberry sauce!
1 pint fresh organic Florida Strawberries
freshly grated coconut-a gift from Florida!
1 organic banana
3 chopped medjool dates

Of course you can add whatever you have.
Let it sit for awhile if you can to marry the flavors.
Adding a few Little Bee tropical flowers adds to the festivities!

You will find lots of info and words of  kindness, truth and bravery to download at this link.
At the end of the day using what is left on my desk, I make at least one card and try to give one away to a Brave Girl everyday.

The fallen leaves that jewel the ground.
They know the art of dying.
And leave with joy their glad gold hearts,
In the scarlet shadow's lying.

When hunger calls my foot steps home,
the morning follows after.
I swim the seas within my mind.
And the pine trees laugh green laughter

Let's Stay Home!

We just had a 15 minute blizzard! and all my outside activities were canceled!
I love to stay home.
So much of V-day is going out to dinner, etc, I was excited to create love messages with this die cut.
The Box was left over from the Walnut Hollow blog hop. It holds cards, so I thought this quote was perfect to invite loved ones to come over and play!

I'm going to try to keep up with Suzanne's prolific weekly output of Silhouette Digital cutting files, with a weekly post on Quietfire Creations.
More on the below there.
The photo's are a bit below par as I had to take them without lights as the power went out!
New Cards
Just a tad of ribbon added and Diamond Glaze to the hearts.

On the mat the cards are 5x7 and I sized them to A2 and the elements fit perfectly.

I tend to be allergic to black, and these just called for it-good guy cards or unfussy gals.
Inside I mixed a hot pink and silver embossing powder to get a duo look.
 a set of eight stamps

Video over at Quietfire Creations
and the files on the mats.

Enjoy these fab files, staying home and please share your creations on our FaceBook Page.
