Mothers hold their children's hands....

My Mom died over 20 years ago and I still miss her some part of every day.

Mom's hands were never still...
working in the factory, cleaning, cooking, wiping our brows and bleeds, and crafting- always crafting.

I could have added a lot of bling and pearls to this card, and that just wasn't Mom.

Her beauty needed no ornamentation.
Once the 80's shamed her out of her rhinestone cats eye glasses, her uniform was comfortable golf course, and her gold wedding ring.

Love and simple elegance. Thanks Mom.

Shout out to Maryella and the ladies of ASAP for the GNO's where they let me show as much show and tell as I want, and the idea for this card.

Nothing ground breaking- lots of Quietfire Design Stamps, the new Distress Paints, cards made with the new stamps I really like-scroll up to see some of them-and the never ending card, that is never ending in my quest to position everything so nothing is upside down. More on that later.

Uninspired

The theme for March Cyerscribes ATC exchange is Year of the Snake.
I'm fine with snakes, I even like snakes, just not inspired by them.

UIOLI-the snake stamp- it's an ouruborus-  a symbol of the eternal unity of all things, the cycle of birth and death.

The background is the  dotted harlequin from Quietfire Design- no chance of losing this one- in fact might use it up!

The snake and quote stamped in Versafine Olympia Green and thermal embossed clear.

I enjoyed making all 10 of these simple ATC's and hope others find the symbolism and words inspiring.

Now comes the fun of anticipating what I will get in exchange!

Some of my best friends are...

......Canadian!
I am privileged and blessed to be a part of the Quiefire Design family, haling from beautiful BC.

Suzanne asked us to enter the Canadian Scrapbooker monthly Sketch Challenge, and I wondered what I would do as I almost never "scrapbook".

Suzanne was featured on their blog with her take on the sketch as a greeting card, and the light went on.
I could take it one step smaller and do the sketch as an ATC.

UIOLI- the Spellbinders Lattice Die.

I bought some framed art for the frames at my local thrift shop- they were BYGO free, and this one was 50cents!

I used the birds from the  discarded art as my photo I am a Robin), cut out the other elements ( digital cutter dreaming) and layered everything up as per the challenge sketch.
The stamp is from the Ten Tiny Tag Sentiments. Perfect for ATC's and tiny tags!
The background mat has an all over pattern of the medium flourish from Flourishes 1.

Everyday We Are Born

Still cranking out the birthday cards.

I was looking for a sketch challenge over at Canadian Scrapbooking Mag, and somehow I found this inchie challenge at Card Maker Mag, and the rest is herstory.

UIOLI-colored with Distress Ink Pumice Stone - it was still in the wrapper!
I love these tiles from Quietfire.
I stamped them with Delicata Golden Glitz, cut and pasted.

Rumor has it Quiefire might start creating cut files!
The Quote is VersaFine Sepia, clear thermal embossed.

Shout out to Elaine for the big 65. I figure 6+5=11, 1+1=2, so make the most of the terrible 2's!

Tsunami of Love

I was sitting in Meeting for Worship and this woman danced into the room. I looked up and thought,"this woman is going to be my friend".

Jen is calling for a tsunami of prayer to get her through breast cancer and treatment.
I hope this card makes a big wave!

No way this card could have too much love or too many hearts on it!

Still trying to work through stash only! I got out my Stamp Gear and created the flower -flourished heart circlet for the quote, stamped in VersaFine Sepia and thermal embossed clear.
Somehow this lovely sheer
Heart Ribbon creeped into my house! It's not just for Valentines Day.

I cut out the focal image, popped it up with fun foam and colorized with lots of Distress Ink-tattered rose, burlap, lipstick, vintage photo.

Added a bit of Delicata Golden Glitz ( I now have two pads- one to keep clean) to the edges.

Comments and questions welcomed- and love and blessings for Jen!

First Warp on a New Loom

I got this new to me loom over a year ago, and put on a short warp to test it out. I used yarns that I had around without sampling, and promised myself I wouldn't be judgmental over the outcome.
The purpose of this project was to break in the loom and tweak it if necessary .

A year later (!) I finally finished weaving and finished the fabric.

I"m calling it two scarves and a neck thing.
Shout out to Ladies in Waiting Amy and Faith!

The neck thing was my sample piece ( well, I sort of sampled) that morphed into a mobius.
You can wear it with the Vee, in front, it has a little pocket!

or the Twist

Y'all were probably wondering why the blog is called Rainbow Weaves!

Tattered Floral Challenge

T!m posted the tattered floral challenge and here is my go at it!
I used the mini tattered blossoms.

These are earrings . I wanted to make them wearable and not too gaudy, so I can give them as a gift.
I love having a full gift drawer!

If you have been following me, and if not I hope you will {sign up to follow by email so you don't miss anything!} Use it or Lose it is this years byword.

I cut 2 of each petal round, 4 total out of vintage linen, that I sprayed with starch and ironed.

I stamped with Vintage photo with one of SA T!m script stamps, sponged on some Distress Ink,Vintage Photo, Mustard and Lipstick, and outlined the edges of the petals with copper Stickles.

When dry, I sewed them together and scrunched till I liked the way they looked- added a honey colored crystal bead to the center, sewed them on to ear wires, added star dust Stickles to the edges and mounted them on a card.

I hope you like them!
